About

Counselling can help you navigate the challenges you are experiencing and improve your mental and emotional wellbeing.  Some of the reasons people come to Finding Felicity include:

  • Relationships issues with their partner, family, or friends
  • Work-related stress
  • Lack of confidence or self-esteem
  • Mental health concerns including anxiety and depression,
  • Life transitions such as divorce, the loss of a loved one, or career change
  • Exploring values and life purpose

The reasons people come for counselling vary widely.  Sometimes I get calls from people who feel that they need to speak to someone but don’t know where to start.  This is perfectly understandable! It isn’t necessary to know what your goals are or even have a clear picture of what your issues are.  Discovering your issues and goals are a part of the counselling process.

How it Works

Bookings

Before you make an appointment, we will have a free 15 minute chat about why you are coming to counselling and to answer any questions you may have.  This gives both of us a chance to see whether we would be a good fit.  If we find that you would be better off with another provider I will do my best to recommend someone who is more suitable for you and your circumstances.

Each appointment runs for 50-60 minutes and requires at least 48 hours notice.  Weekly appointments are recommended to ensure you receive the best care possible.  If this isn’t possible due to your schedule, please let me know and I will do my best to meet your needs.

It isn’t possible for me to tell you how many appointments you will need.  Some people come in for a few, others become long-term clients.  Regardless of why you are coming to counselling we will regularly review your progress and discuss whether you have met your goals and no longer need counselling or if further support is needed.

All of my sessions are over the phone or Zoom.  I have written a blog about the benefits of online counselling here.  If you have any concerns or questions about online counselling I’m happy to discuss them with you.

Pricing

Each appointment costs $120, or $90 for people who hold a Centrelink issued Health Care Card (HCC) or Pensioner Concession Card (PCC). For first appointments payment is required at the time of booking and will be processed using Stripe. Subsequent appointments can be paid either by Stripe or direct deposit.

Unfortunately counsellors are not eligible to provide services under a mental health care plan through Medicare. This can be to your benefit however. By seeing a counsellor you are paying the same amount (and sometimes much less!) as seeing a psychologist without having to worry about not having your needs met in the limited amount of sessions provided under Medicare.
